Capt. Andy Cotton’s Sarasota, Fl Fishing Report 5/7/18

Anglers fishing aboard my boat the O’ Fish All out of CB’S Saltwater outfitters on Siesta Key caught and released spotted seatrout, Spanish mackerel, blues, jacks and snook. The most productive areas have been the deeper  grass flats around Sarasota bay for bigger trout and a variety of other species DOA Shad tails have been working the best in Arkansas glow color. Fly anglers are scoring with sink tip fly lines and heavily weighted clouser fly patterns. Night snook fishing has been very productive with small white fly patterns and live shrimp. Tarpon are starting to move down the coast.  We are getting some shots on fly while posting up on the shallow sand bars. Beach fishing for tarpon should improve over the next week

Capt. Andy Cotton’s Sarasota fishing report 4/13/18

Anglers fishing aboard my boat the O’ Fish All out of CB’S Saltwater outfitters on Siesta Key caught and released spotted seatrout, Spanish mackerel and blues. Spotted seatrout seem to be holding on all the deeper flats around the bay. We are catching quite a few fish well in to the upper slot and over 20”. While on my boat we release all trout over 20” as these are our breeding stock of fish with good genetics. DOA Shad tails on a 1/4 or 3/8 oz jig heads fished in 5 to 8 ft of water has been the ticket for me. Along with these trout we are finding bluefish, mackerel and jack crevalle. Fly anglers are scoring with sink tip fly lines and heavily weighted clouser fly patterns. Night snook fishing has been producing well with live shrimp and on fly using Grassett’s snook pattern
